within the Colony for the space of ten years from the date of the

warrant upon the ground therein stated, namely, that he has no

honest occupation in the Colony, has been convicted of carrying

firearms, is a thief and a dangerous character.

I am further directed to inform you that solicitor and

Counsel have no right of audience herein before the Governor-in-

Council.

I beg to inform you that my client, the above, intends to

petition the Secretary of State for the Colonies, and that the

petition will be forwarded to you in the course of two or three

days.

I have to request that the banishment order be not carried

out pending the Secretary of State's decision on the petition.

Chu Lei was banished and removed from the Colony on or about

the 36th June 1914 and this petition is in consequence made by

your petitoner instead of by him.
